Who the hell cares
44Thanks for the thoughts, but...
"Umm maybe we should just take all of the politicians and put them on a deserted island...." Everyday on local news websites, all around the world, thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people chime in or give the proverbial "two cents," not unlike the poorly written quote above. While skimming through these glass house remarks on a dark, rain cloud filled, coffee drenched Monday morning at my desk I had what alcoholics and addicts refer to as a moment of clarity. What do all of these people think? Before I began to answer my own question, I set my phone to voice mail so I could become engulfed in the silent rage of these run on sentence bandits.
Reading through the thread of comments, I realized, they really think we; the reader really cares what they have to say. Taking my eyes off of the screen for a moment I spotted two homeless men walking through the alley way in between the building I work in and an impound lot, past my office windows, and out of the way of the rain that had began to spit on them as they shared a filter-less cigarette. They were carrying their possession's on their backs in torn trash bags and an over sized purse they probably picked up from the St. Vincent De Paul. Staring into the reflective glass as if they could see right through, angry I was taking my morning coffee and warm seat for granted they slid into a nook on the side of the impound lot office to keep dry and stay out of the way of the morning cluster of traffic. Ignoring their stars, but still feeling a sharp sense of guilt, for waisting time at work, I reverted back at the screen to waste more time, and wonder; would these two guys care what the house wife who works part time as a receptionist thinks about new pit bull legislation. Would they be interested to read what the disgruntled retiree from GM has to say about the bail outs as he incessantly pecks at the keys with his index finger, "screaming" at the previous posting in capitol letters?
I have come across more than one of these poorly written, probably typed on office time postings that stings me so bad that I actually begin to type a response in hopes that the original author will be ashamed of the point they have tried to convey.
It is not the opinion of the person typing or the audacity of them to post their thoughts on any subject at all with out actually having knowledge on the subject of the article that agitates me. But the attitude, the tone in their text that their thought actually matters when the fact is we could all be out on the street trying to get one more drag off of a cigarette while we dodge the rain drops and the rush hour traffic worried that we may have to discard everything we own because of a lousy rain shower.

Agreed, I hate that some can be so self involved that they have to tell the world what they think about each news story.........
